...in an old farmhouse in Gascony, eating locally raised ducks -with skin and fat a half inch thick- roasted in an open fireplace. More cooking in Gascony, and a visit to the truffle market, later.

Normally, I do not complain about your posts and the accompanying photos--but this almost amounts to cruel and unusual punishment:-)
Why isn't it me taking these pictures?!! Yes, I recognize that jealousy is not becoming.
At least you had the restraint not to describe the meal....
Oh well, vicarious consumption is better than none at all.

My forebears came from Breton, France, though I haven't had the opportunity to visit. This is exactly how I imagined one of their old farmhouses might have looked.
