blaming it on the heat

I have been really tardy with the blog. I blame it on the heat. Really, it's been so unbelievably hot in Paris. I went shopping yesterday looking for summer clothes, with a goal to wear as little as I could while still look, um, half way decent. It's been that kind of heat.
Paris is as much fun as ever. I've had quite a full schedule two lunches at L'Astrance -one of which was in the delightful company of Les Girls Louisa and Clotilde -where we ate and laughed and drank and said grace with our little cameras-, roasted a Poulet de Bresse, had tartine with David, got all végétable-d with Pascale, trekked out to Chatillon for couscous, had yet another wonderful meal at Le Meurice, this time a lovely lunch, also a delicious dinner at L'Entredgeu and L'Os à Moelle and many other lovely little bistros. Next week I have another lunch at L'Ambroisie and a dinner at Gagnaire. Goodness when will I ever have time to blog about it all.
I've been going into Pierre Hermé nearly everyday, for a few macarons or -since the heat wave- for a Miss Gla Gla Ispahan, an ultimate icecream sandwich made of rose macaron biscuits and raspberry and litchi sorbet.
I think I know I've been spending far too much time there, chez Pierre Hermé, when the cute sale girl -Japanese I think, who speaks perfect English but put up with my halting French kindly anyway- said à bientôt instead of au revoir as I left the shop the last two times I was there. I guess when they begin to say à demain is when I really know I am in need of professional help....

I'm a first time visitor to your blog, but reading this post makes me want to go to the Pierre Herme's here in Tokyo. I had bought some there as a gift for a friend in return for a package of macarons from Dalloyau, but didn't have any myself.
I'm moving back to San Francisco after having lived in Tokyo for a while and if you know where to get macarons in the bay, let me know! thanks!

Hi Mindy,
I know nothing of the pastry chef at Le Meurice, except that his pastries are always yummie. A few months ago he made this passionfruit paper thing to decorate one of the chocolate mignardise that was superb...like a grown up version of those fruity tapes kids eat.
I'm going back to Le Meurice saturday, not to eat but to visit the kitchen and chat with the chef, and will certainly ask to meet the pastry chef.
cheers
Pim

Hi Pim,
How's the pastry chef at Le Meurice??? Tell us a little about him. I can't find anything about him.
Cheers!

hi, pim
In our country also, a branch of Pierre herme was introduced. We can found it in big department store. Of course, products are different from yours. At any rate, this icecream sandwich looks very yummy and nice. I'll look for it. ^^

Pim...When did you catch "writers block"? What a bummer...Still looking all the time for a story about your 'El Bulli meal'...Hope you feel better...It's broiling in Seattle too. Totally unusual for this time of year. Must be a 'global' thing......Jimmy-in-Seattle

O my. My envy level has reached its peak. these ic sandwiches look divine. I am trying to eat delicious things here, put my nose right into the lemon basil, decorate my desk with poppies that look like silk paper, just so I can come to chez Pim slightly satiated!
XO.

...but with treats looking as perfect as they do in your photo, what could bother really? Theses sandwiches look [and read] perfect. So nice to hear you're enjoying every minute!
