Harbinger of things to come?
Pim: i just ate an entire pomelo
Pim: the whole thing!
Fred: tasty?
Pim: very
Pim: and was hungry
Pim: and got in the groove of peeling each section
Pim: and trying to get each one to be perfect
Pim: and had to eat the evidence
Pim: and before i knew it it was over
Pim: done
Fred: perfection is a road not a destination
Pim: i just ate the entire pomelo
Pim: heh
Pim: not feeling too good to tell the truth
Fred: oh well
A snippet of an IM chat with my friend Fred. Today is the first down time I have since I decided to quit. I perhaps need to learn to deal better with down time.
My tummy hurts.

First discovered Pomello's during cold, damp unheated Jerusalem winters...ate many a whole pomello in those days. It was years before I rediscovered them in New York, and yes I again have eaten many a whole pomello bit by bit...I find them one of those sensual foods like artichokes where the pleasure of the experience is far greater than just the taste...

There is something very satisfying about peeling pomelo (some people here call them pummelo or pommelo) because the membranes are nice and tough, not fragile like a tangerine, so they come off in bigger pieces.
IMing...you are trying to cut back? These small addictions can be quite tough.

My favorite thing about the Pomelo is opening it up carefuly and eating each of the little tiny 'packets of yum' one by one...sure, after a few I just munch on the whole segment...but its nice like that too.
Pim, have you taken my psytrance comment seriously yet...you might like it...then again, you might not...but it will keep you busy!

Hey Pim,
what about a good lunch/dinner in a top French restaurant to turn your mood around ? ;-)
When is your Michel Bras trip planned by the way ? If you can, you should stop by my lovely Rhone Valley on your way to Laguiole.
Cheer it up.

salut pim!
i didn't find it sad at all...i thought it was quite poetic, and "down time" is just TIME after all! i say be as greedy as you can with your time because that is all we have ultimately...i wanted to let you know that i was very, very greedy with mine during my two months in france...i am addicted to the butter from brittany, and when you go there, be sure to visit l'ile de bréhat when the flowers are in bloom...i would like to grow old and fat there!

Thanks guys.
But I am cheered up. :-) I thought that was rather funny -except for the bit about tummy ache i guess- how interesting that it appeared sad to everyone!
Pim :-)

Cheer up Pim,
Down time is good. Learning to manage it is also good. It takes a little time, but hey... Enjoy your 'mistakes'! That's what down time is all about.

A pomelo! That's not bad at all. I ATE A 1 LB CHUNK OF BREAD TODAY. That's bad.

Relax, dear. Its only a Pomelo. How bad can you get with a Pomelo? Its not like you launched an attack on a ... (better not give you any ideas).
I know how you feel. Down time tastes different when you own it.
