What made me smile today..
A perfect slice of Acme's French batard, toasted, slathered with Strauss Family Creamery organic salted butter and topped with plenty of Christine Ferber's Reine Claude confiture.

Maurice,
Yes, I am indeed silly.
But sometimes that is required, is it not, if one is to enjoy life in its simplicity rather than dwell on its brooding complexity?
Ignorance and bliss and all that, if only for a short while.

Vanessa,
Interesting. I always use unsalted or "sweet" butter when I cook, and almost always use salted butter for eating out of hand.
Strauss butter is ever so slightly salted. I find the slight saltiness a perfect foil for the sweet confiture.

"Life is simple and wonderful."
Ah, this made me smile.
A moment of innocent joy in a world fraught with peril.
Silly girl.

One man's meat is another man's poison an' all that... I can't conceive of anything more disgusting than salted butter with confiture. I was brought up in a household where there were always two butters on the table: salted for father and unsalted for mother. I always took the mother's side and almost never have salted in the house, although I'll admit it's good on crumpets.
