This could've been so funny

This could've been so funny had it not been so scary.

The Thai government has been criticized by the UN and Human Rights Watch, for its handling of the all-out campaign against drug dealers in the country. This is due to the death toll of "drug related" killings, which has risen to over 1,000 since the campaign commenced only a couple of months ago.

So, here's how Thailand has dealt with it. The PM, Thaksin Shinawatra, was quoted in a Thai langauge newspaper Thairath, saying, roughly translated, "why the f--- should I care? the UN is not my father". Really. I kid you not. The next day, the Interior Ministry came up with a brilliant way of dealing with the "problem" by banning the tally update altogether.

It ain't happening if it ain't in the news, folks.
The Bush administration probably took note.
